Google folder of notes and resources 1. Sketchnoting- Sylvia Duckworth Sessions Sketchnoting is a process in which one takes notes using text and pictures. There are various formats and techniques that can be applied in different situations to maximize student learning, retention and engagement in the content. Check out a brief video on Sketchnoting basics Example of use in classroom: I am using sketchnoting as an alternative lecture. I have prepared a flipped lesson in Schoology in which students are using 3 readings about my content (Active and Passive Transport Systems) and a short Video on the content. They are asked to use sketchnoting...this time with provided blank paper and colored pencils/markers (but it could also be digital), to take notes as they read the articles and watch the video. The readings are in Actively Learn, a great literacy and oracy management platform for the classroom. In Actively Learn a teacher can chunk text, ask questions along the way that students answer, and provide multi-media (i.e., pictures, video, animations, links to websites...) to enhance the learning. The students will post their final sketchnote into Schoology and the class will share them with each other. The best sketchnotes will populate a folder that students can use to study from for the unit and final exams. Digital apps for sketchnoting: Mac= Procreate or paper by 53; PC= Adobe Draw Good pencils for sketching digitally: Musemee notier prime or apple pencil 2.
